The Jackton Project
Bespoke Kitchens and Interiors were approached to undertake a significant and challenging project on the outskirts of East Kilbride. Dubbed 'The Jackton Project', this endeavor aimed to transform a blank canvas into a vibrant, mixed-use space, blending functional and entertaining areas seamlessly.
Planning:
Installing a bespoke kitchen is a meticulous process that requires careful handling, fitting, adjusting, and setting each piece into place. This is why we typically allow two weeks for the installation of a bespoke kitchen. Unlike off the shelf solutions, a bespoke kitchen is unique and requires a tailored approach. Our kitchens are not only robust and beautiful but also built to last for decades, so every stage of the installation is managed with acute attention to detail. This ensures that the end result is a high-quality, customized kitchen that meets the specific needs and desires of our customers. So, while the installation process may take a bit longer than a standard kitchen, the result is well worth the time and effort.
We take a phased approach to installing your new bespoke kitchen. Our planning process involves organizing all the different trades required for the setup of your kitchen and creating an installation timeline for each trade. This ensures that each element of the installation is completed and managed in a logical and efficient way. If there is a building project taking place alongside the kitchen installation, we will also liaise with the builder to account for any crossover between the two projects. Our goal is to make the installation process as smooth and hassle-free as possible for you.
After dismantling the existing kitchen, it is essential to ensure that the floors and walls are left in good condition, especially if any items are to be reused. Site preparation is also crucial, as it may involve removing walls, relocating doorways, or adjusting water and electric services for the new kitchen. In older properties, it is common to find that the current plumbing and electrical set up is no longer suitable, so it is important to check and relocate these services as needed. This process can take time and careful planning to ensure that the site is properly prepared for the installation of the new kitchen.

Once the old kitchen has been dismantled, the site now has to be prepared for the new kitchen. This may involve removing walls, moving a doorway, or relocating water and electric services. It is also common in older properties to discover that the current plumbing and electrical setup is no longer suitable. We take the time at this point to check the services and relocate them if required.
At this stage of the process, we prepare the walls for installation, including applying the first coat of paint. The kitchen space is now a clean slate, ready for its transformation!
Installation:
The key to a successful installation of a custom kitchen is getting the leveling just right. We make sure that every element is perfectly level, square, and plumb. This requires careful monitoring and adjustments to ensure that the run of furniture is completely aligned. By doing this before the worktop goes on, we can make small adjustments much more easily. Our focus on precision and attention to detail ensures that the finished result will be a perfectly installed, bespoke kitchen.
After finalizing the design, the next step is to template the worktop. This involves creating a mock-up of the kitchen worktop to accurately record the measurements and pattern. Once the template is completed, the worktop is cut to match the dimensions before being returned to the site for installation. This entire process, from templating to installation, can take up to two week. It is crucial to ensure that the worktop fits perfectly and aligns with the design specifications before the final installation.
After templating, the wall units are fitted to allow enough time for the worktop to be measured, made, and delivered. Then, the final trimming of decorative panels, cornice, and pelmets is completed, and the decorative panels are scribed to the contours of the wall for a secure fit. This process ensures that everything fits perfectly and is finished to the highest standard.
Once the worktop is in place and all the furniture is arranged, we proceed with the second fix for the electrics and plumbing. This is the stage where we install the sink and taps as well.
final touches:
In this final stage of the process, we carefully commission all the new appliances to ensure they are ready for use. This involves removing all internal protective transit packaging, turning on each appliance, and following any manufacturer's first use instructions. For example, we make sure to preheat the oven at a high heat for several hours before it is used. We provide this service at no additional cost to our customers, as it is important to us that everything is set up correctly and ready to use.
Once everything is in place and the painting and flooring are done, there's only one last thing left to do! Our final task on site is to do a thorough check and clean. Yes, we clean for you! Who wants to have their new kitchen installed and then have to spend time removing transit labels and cleaning? We inspect and clean every cabinet and surface, leaving no evidence of a construction site.
